Saving Grace brunch place
Porchetta And Co is an amazing lunch, but when they were closed yesterday I was at a loss! Walking along Dundas West knowing there are a million awesome lunch places, I entered Ella's Uncle for a coffee and a delicious amazing berry scone (sorry, ate it too fast for a pic), and was told to go across the street to Saving Grace. Try the Angela sandwich, she said. I did, and the aftermath was drop dead gorgeous.

Garbage Room Finds
I make a habit of visiting the recycling room of my apartment building as often as I can, and it has paid off. In addition to electronics, which I can turn into e-art, I have found umbrellas, some very interesting jewelry, and shoes.
Bloorcourt Fair
Yesterday after playing beach volleyball, I biked to the Bloorcourt arts and crafts fair to check it out. I was impressed by the level of skill and design put into the products at all the tables. I met Ting of Acidzip who makes fantastic porcupine quill jewelry and has a great sense of vintage style, and I bought this necklace she made. I love the necklace, and it has been over a year since I have bought any jewelry so I am super excited about it and will probably wear it every waking hour.

Gelato Genius
Marlena over at Leap of Faith made a post about the greatness of ice cream, and it inspired me to recount last night's delightful gelato experience. Gelato Simply Italian sounds like it is run by actual italians, which I deduced from our gelato server man who said "prego," which brought back nostalgic memories of my time in Italy this summer. The flavours I had were pink grapefruit, a strong aroma with some zap to it, and coriander-lime. Coriander-lime was a genius flavour, extremely refreshing, and unsual in a way that worked. Move over, rolo-flavoured frozen dessert!

Amimono knit blue tank
This knit top was my first foray into a real knitting project that transcended making scarves! It is made of 100% mercerised cotton, and I followed a pattern for the first time!

Handbag Heaven
If I had $200 to invest right now, I would get this great Kate Spade bag. Or better yet, learn how to make one! I had a date with a girl to teach me basketweaving (which I think can be related to bagweaving if I want it to) but it didn't work out. I'm still holding out though!
And if I had another $150 to spend I would pair it with this beautiful blue flowy dress handmade by crusheleptic.

Great Hair
After a year old haircut which I was never satisfied with, I have finally found a formula for perfect hair.
1. Neglect to get a haircut for a year
2. Once hair is dirty, wash it
3. Sleep on wet hair and allow it to get dirty again
4. Bang forehead into unyielding metal plate edge in a warehouse
5. Observe horrifying bump develop in instants (not pictured)
6. Clip otherwise useless bangs sideways to conceal the bump from friends and public!

Barcelona, Spain (May 18 - 21)
Balmy and beautiful Barcelona... what more can I say? Rambling countless narrow winding streets near La Rambla I saw more picturesque squares than I had ever imagined. Across the square is a seafood restaurant called Cal Pep. There is no menu, and there are only a few tables in the back. The rest of the patrons line up nightly to have a seat at the bar. To order, converse with the bartender/server who will recommend dishes based on what you want, as well as more that you may not need. House white accompanied molluscs cooked with pork bits, "special" mushrooms, ...
To the left, a couple from Vienna, Austria received a whole white monkfish, which was de-spined and plated in front of them by the server. I would probably swap the mushrooms for that fish if I'd known. To the right, first a large group of spanish-speaking asian people knew exactly what to order and squabbled over the bill, then a couple from Toronto. In line, a very language-challenged lady from the States condescendingly ordered wine which she jabbed at from a ripped-out page of a travel magazine very loudly and slowly to the server in English, who pretended not to know any. She did succeed in getting what she wanted, which turned out to be the delicious house white.
